The Sam Morey Scholarship was established in 2025, founded and administered by Footscape, and supported financially through donations from friends, family and local businesses, in celebration and loving memory of the late, Sam Morey.

Sam began volunteering at Footscape as a La Trobe University Podiatry student and had continued after graduating in 2020. He was dedicated, dependable, warm and friendly to all and we will miss him tremendously. We thank and acknowledge Sam and his family, for their generosity and contributions to Footscape, and for the privilege of honouring Sam in this way.

The Sam Morey Scholarship will provide an opportunity for eligible La Trobe University fourth year Podiatry students to apply for $1000 and help achieve their goals of completing a clinical placement in the Northern Territory.

It is with great pleasure that I announce the inaugural recipient of The Sam Morey Scholarship. Congratulations to Ellie-Mae Angliss, a fourth year Podiatry student at La Trobe University.

Ellie-Mae explains that she has always been interested in undertaking a clinical placement in the Northern Territory, as it offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in a rural and remote healthcare setting that is very different from metropolitan practice. She is particularly drawn to the diversity of clinical presentations and the opportunity to work more closely with underserved communities.

During her placement at Alice Springs Hospital, she hopes to develop a deeper understanding of culturally inclusive and respectful healthcare, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Ellie-Mae is aiming to further develop her clinical skills be gaining hands-on experience in a rural and remote setting, where clinicians are often required to work with greater independence and adaptability. She views this placement as an opportunity to grow both professionally and personally, and to build skills that will support her future practice.

Good luck Ellie-May. We hope your placement proves to be a wonderful experience!
